Our supply plane. It turns out it is difficult for a pilot to tell
how far above a featureless snow field he is while landing. One of
the pilots was always very nervous about it and one day misjudged
and damaged the landing gear and a wing. Parts were flown in and
the plane was repaired enough to leave. That pilot had never pranged
a plane in thousands of hours of flying. We thought he might not
be back, but actually he got much more relaxed about it and did
most of the flights after that point.
